Uganda has an installed capacity of 822MW of which 692MW is Hydro. This represents a low energy mix and highlights the immense opportunity for scaling up energy sources in the country. This coupled with the Government’s ambition to generate 20,000 MW by 2040 makes Uganda an extremely attractive investment destination for energy companies.
We not only provide expert hands on advice, but also advise from a practical and business perspective. We have been involved in setting up renewable energy projects right from acquiring permits to conduct feasibility studies, raising equity, applying for grants and subsidies, obtaining the necessary consents from the regulator, negotiating the financing of projects, negotiating the Power Purchase Agreements and Implementation Agreements, negotiating EPC contracts, supplier contracts, and advising on connectivity to the national grid. We have also advised clients on proposed off-grid solutions in areas that are not connected to the national grid.
